Done in 60 Seconds

Steve has directed me to some of the funniest things I think I have ever seen!! Empire film’s online mag semingly runs the “Done in 60 Seconds” competition each year. Essentially, people make videos which concisely tell the plot of a movie in 60 seconds. Some of them are pure genius! The below link has the 20 finalists:

All have genius merits within them, but the best for me by far is the “Top Gun” montage! Watch it and be entertained! And look out for all the little subtleties like the references to Tom Cruise’s scientology, the arm bands in the sea, and the not so subtle, perfectly acted, homo-erotic subtext!!! (less of the ‘sub’ though).

A close second is the “Donny Darko” spoof – actually made more sense than the film! But big praise should be give to those who have animated their entries, “Who Framed Roger Rabbit” and “Evil Dead”, with “There Will Be Blood” giving homage to retro arcade games.

Treat your Wednesday afternoon, twenty minutes worth of video awaits, but if you only have one – go for Top Gun! “I feel the need, the need for speed!”

  1. Ooh I am so watching this when I get home!

    • Enjoy!

  2. […] none this year are quite as spectacular as the Top Gun entry of 2010 , the 2011 entries are still very entertaining with huge amounts of work being ploughed into them. […]
