World Book Day

Being out of the classroom makes me forgetful, about many things. But it has taken a phone call from my mum just now to remind me that today is World Book Day.

School across the country will undoubtedly today be dressing up as favourite fictional characters to celebrate reading. The website above provides details and information for everyone, detailing events for the day and the eleven £1 books children can buy with their free book vouchers (given out at school).

On top of this, this year they are launching the new ‘Read to  a Million Kids’. This is where they have video and audio of authors and actors reading passages from this years book list. This is available only for a short time from this point onwards: http://www.readtoamillionkids.co.uk/

Its a great way to try and get children of all ages interested in reading. Go, have a mooch through the websites and enjoy the pure simplicity of reading for pleasure – the kids way!
